Our new favorite stopping ground in the MetroPlex has been the Bishop Arts district located SW of downtown Dallas.
The heart of the action is located on Bishop St. between N. Bishop and Davis Street with a few establishments off the main st, and some cool back alley spaces.
The scene has a mix of families, high end bars, shopping, ice cream shops, and one really great pie place that just happens to have the address of 314. It’s a funky alternative with an upscale vibe. There are a few bars with live music and no shortage of reputable street performers trying to earn a few extra bucks. Bishop St is lined with outdoor seating and patios that are packed during the early evening and happy hour times. Many of the restaurants close around 10:00, and the scene winds down a little earlier than some of the other more bar centric party destinations like Deep Emllum and lower Greenville.

The architecture and outside mural art is spectacular and rivals any of the similar scenes found in small towns throughout Texas.
Self-described as Dallas’ most independent neighborhood, the Bishop Arts area is located in the Oak Hill area of Dallas. It has undergone aggressive gentrification over the past decade. Large modern townhouse communities are being built all over the neighborhood, and there are a healthy amount of new and redone modern single family homes in a variety of the streets and local areas.
